Our goal was to encourage long-term retention by guiding users beyond domain purchase and into hosting. Since buying a domain is only the first step, we introduced three domain packages: one, two, and three years. To clearly communicate the value of the three-year option, we ran over 48 A/B tests across this flow. Because purchasing a product typically involves a long registration process, we focused on designing an interface that felt simple, clear, and effortless to complete.

DATA DRIVEN

The UX research data-driven approach is often more collaborative, and it seeks to solve more of the user’s pain points. We are able to answer questions about what users like and dislike, as well as how our products impact them as a result of the data-driven approach. In addition to gathering many support tickets about transferring domains to Wix, the product manager and I also found that a lot of users struggled with this use case. Also, there are many domain websites which offer a variety of domain prices. Understanding how to transfer a domain was the main pain point.

METHODS

My design team and I conducted UX research and brainstorming sessions. This method can be applied to make your user experience more engaging. Designing for User Experience (UX) is about understanding user needs, behaviors, and ideas to create a positive experience. I’ve explored the need for UX research and design brainstorming sessions in order to make this product more engaging and easy to use. I have collected many references and materials from the web. Consequently, there are many purchasing processes on the web, so we do not have to make the well ourselves. The challenge was to assist the user in choosing the three-year option.

LOW FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

We emphasize research, brainstorming, and whiteboard collaboration. Sketching low-fidelity wireframes together helps us think as a team, explore ideas quickly, and solve UX challenges early.

High-Fidelity Design & Validation

The next phase is to translate the concept into high-fidelity design. Our focus is to deliver a complete, end-to-end user story with only the interactions that truly matter.

To support this, we will build a focused, lightweight prototype that brings the user journey to life. This prototype will serve as a validation tool, allowing us to test the experience directly with users and assess whether the proposed UX effectively meets user needs before moving forward.
